Upon talking to several high school
friends today, I have come to realize and understand the concept of
“realization”... that it is and will always be important to think once in a
while. Think not in its literal sense of the mere act itself, but to think
twice or even thrice about one’s life. It may not necessarily be deep
contemplation nor does it have to be a long-term process. Sometimes all we need
is just enough time and courage to realize…
That people change…
People
change for their very own reasons and that the people and experiences they
encounter mold them into different beings. Who we were back in high school may
not be totally different from ourselves, now in college, but we cannot deny the
fact that because of the environmental changes and experiences, we are also not
an exact replica of what who we were before. Sometimes we beg people not to
change for we already like moreover love them for who they are, but who are we
to stop them from changing? We are only one aspect of their ginormous
experience called life. I have also come to realize that people change because
they want to. People change not only for their experiences but because they
choose to grow, maybe not always in they ways we want them to, but they grow towards
something different and different is not always bad.
That things happen for a reason, but they
also happen because we want them to happen…
Oftentimes,
we hear people use the phrase “things happen for a reason” but the truth is,
people use the phrase as an excuse for events or circumstances that they were
actually too passive about. Sometimes people choose to say that everything
happens for a reason because they were not able to make things happen for
themselves. I do believe that no matter how playful or unexpected destiny or
fate may be, at the end of the day we are all in control of our lives, that
things happen because we choose to make them happen or things do not happen
because we choose not to do anything.
Sometimes we are all too caught up with the idea of going with the flow
that we set aside the fact that we are the ones who make the “flow” that we
choose to go with.
That to move on is to be free…
No
matter how entertaining or interesting it is to be involved in events and
relationships…sometimes we all need to move on. We need to move on not only for
the sake of saving friendships but people need to move to save themselves,
ourselves…save ourselves from lurking in the shadows of what could have been or
what might have been. We need to save ourselves from wondering on the “what
ifs” or what is still possible out there, because what is possible will always
find its way, and we are never really in control of what lies ahead. No matter how hard moving on may seem, we all
need the adequate amount of courage to accept, learn and move forward because
indeed, moving on is freeing ourselves from being the prisoners of our very own
thoughts. Moving on is taking a step towards “hello the new me” and bidding
goodbye to “what used to be me”.
That everything involves a choice…
Every
single thing that happens in our lives involves a choice…that we are all called
to make a stand, that the truth is the world is only black and white, and
nothing in between.
Sometimes,
despite the numerous things and
experiences that we have to realize and understand, all we need is that enough
amount of bravery to finally say that all we choose to be..is simply happy.
